Did you know that more than two million children under the age of 15 experience accidents in and around the home and school every year, for which the unfortunate are taken to their local accident and emergency units around the country?  This Level 3 Paediatric First Aid course is designed for those who have an interest in child and baby basic life support.

What will you learn?

Babies or children who are:

  • Unresponsive and breathing.
  • Unresponsive and not breathing, including the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
  • Burnt or has a scald.
  • Object in their eye, ear, or nose.
  • Hypothermia or heat exhaustion.
  • Sickness or a fever.

This syllabus also covers, what do if someone is having a medical emergency, including:

  • Diabetic emergency.
  • Asthma attack.
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock).
  • Has had an injury to a bone muscle or joint (including spinal injuries).
  • Has a head injury.
  • Has swallowed something harmful.

How the Course Is Delivered?

Should you require several courses, we can offer you course bundles at competitive corporate rates and potentially offer you discounts.  We currently deliver courses for many national companies throughout the UK so our open courses might suit you better.  Our open courses are ideal for individuals and groups, all our open courses are for anyone wishing to up their skills and knowledge in the chosen subject, these courses can be delivered in the following ways, classroom-based, blended learning which is a mix of both webinar-based and classroom-based delivery methods, there will still be an element of both Practical and Theory assessments in the blending learning approach.

HSQE Consultancy also offer an E-Learning Paediatric First Aid to help the learning gain some theoretical Knowledge prior to undertaking the course.


Paediatric First Aid Level 3 – expires on the 3 years anniversary after successfully completing and being issued the certification.  However, we recommend that you attend an upskill course every year to refresh your skills.  As part of our environmental policy, all certificates will be available as a link and PDF download on completion. Our e-certificates are valid certification and accepted by all governing bodies and accreditations centres.

Candidates have a good understanding of spoken and written English. While we are often able to provide support to people who do not have English as a first language, our ability to do so is limited by the time available and the number of people who require assistance. We may be able to make special arrangements if requested in advance. Please contact us if you need any guidance.  Candidates do not need to have prior learning or experience in this qualification.

What to bring on the day?

Candidates are required to bring Photo ID in order that they may take the exam. This can either be a Passport or a Driving License.

How Do I Know Which Course Is Best Suited to Me?

This course is suitable for people aged 16+ who care for babies and children in any professional setting and are required to be qualified in first aid, including:

  • Au pairs.
  • Nursery and pre-school workers.
  • Sport and leisure workers.
  • Crèche staff members and leads.
  • Anyone responsible for the welfare of children.
